What Is the Calculator Page?
The Calculator Page is WheelInterchange's dedicated wheel comparison tool. It helps compare a wheel or donor vehicle with a target vehicle to identify potential fitment compatibility before purchasing or installing wheels.
The comparison may use dimensions such as bolt pattern / PCD, center bore, wheel diameter, wheel width, and offset. Depending on the measured differences and available fitment information, the result can indicate whether the combination is a Direct Fit, needs additional hardware, or requires further checking.
How the Calculator Page Works
A typical comparison starts with two sides:
- Donor vehicle: the vehicle, wheel, or wheel specifications being considered
- Target vehicle: the vehicle on which the wheel may be installed
The calculator compares the relevant specifications rather than relying on the vehicle names alone. This is important because wheels that appear similar can differ in bolt pattern, center bore, width, offset, brake clearance, or lug hardware requirements.
The result may use WheelInterchange fitment categories such as:
- Direct Fit: the listed dimensions and known requirements indicate that the wheel should mount without an adapter or spacer
- Direct Fit – Hardware Note: the wheel may fit, but lug nuts, bolts, studs, or another hardware detail must be verified
- Fits With Hub Rings: the wheel center bore is larger than the target vehicle hub and a correctly sized hub-centric ring may be used
- Fits With Spacer: a spacer may be needed for clearance or positioning, subject to safe installation and remaining clearance
- Adapter Required: an adapter is needed to address a dimensional difference, such as a bolt-pattern mismatch
- Check Fitment: the available information is not sufficient to confirm compatibility
- Not Directly Compatible: the wheel does not directly match the target vehicle's requirements
Why the Calculator Page Matters for Wheel Fitment
A matching bolt pattern / PCD is necessary in many applications, but it does not prove complete compatibility. The wheel must also clear the vehicle hub and brakes, accept the correct lug hardware, and provide suitable suspension and fender clearance.
Center bore is a common example. A wheel with a larger center bore than the target vehicle's hub may use a hub-centric ring. For example, a wheel with a 67.1 mm center bore on a vehicle with a 64.1 mm hub may use a 67.1 → 64.1 mm hub-centric ring. A ring cannot make a wheel with a center bore smaller than the vehicle hub fit.
Offset should also be assessed together with wheel width. Changing either dimension can alter the wheel's inner clearance to suspension components and its outer position relative to the fender. Tire size and sidewall shape can create additional clearance issues even when the wheel dimensions match.
How to Use the Result Correctly
Treat the Calculator Page as a comparison and screening tool, not as a substitute for physical verification. Before installation, confirm:
- The bolt pattern / PCD matches, or that the proposed adapter is specifically designed for the required direction of conversion
- The wheel center bore is compatible with the vehicle hub
- The wheel width, diameter, and offset provide adequate brake, suspension, and fender clearance
- The lug nuts or bolts have the correct thread, seat type, length, and engagement
- The tire package is appropriate for the target vehicle
- Any spacer or adapter is correctly sized and leaves sufficient hub and fastener engagement
A normal wheel spacer moves a wheel outward but does not change its bolt pattern. Therefore, it cannot by itself make a 6x135 wheel fit a 6x139.7 hub. If the calculator returns Check Fitment, do not interpret that result as approval; it means that additional measurements or vehicle-specific verification are needed.
