“Fits With Hub Rings” is a wheel fitment outcome used when the donor wheel’s center bore is larger than the target vehicle’s hub, but the wheel can otherwise be suitable. A hub-centric ring fits inside the wheel’s center bore and reduces it to match the vehicle hub diameter.
The ring helps center the wheel during installation and supports a more hub-centered fit. It does not change the wheel’s bolt pattern, offset, width, diameter, or brake clearance.
This outcome is different from Direct Fit because the wheel requires an additional part–the correctly sized hub ring–to achieve the intended center-bore fit.
How Hub Rings Work
A hub ring has two important dimensions:
- Outer diameter: Matches the donor wheel’s center bore.
- Inner diameter: Matches the target vehicle’s hub diameter.
For example, a wheel with a 67.1 mm center bore on a vehicle with a 64.1 mm hub may use a 67.1 → 64.1 mm hub-centric ring. The ring occupies the space between the wheel bore and the vehicle hub.
Hub rings are commonly used when aftermarket wheels are manufactured with a larger center bore so that the same wheel design can fit multiple vehicles. Do not assume the wheel’s advertised size is its center bore. Center bore is measured across the wheel’s center opening and is expressed in millimeters (mm). The vehicle hub diameter must also be verified in millimeters.
Treating a spacer as a hub ring
A standard wheel spacer changes the wheel’s position by moving it outward. It does not reduce the wheel center bore and does not change the bolt pattern. Some products may combine spacing and hub-centering features, but a basic spacer should not be treated as a hub ring.
Assuming the ring makes the wheel a complete fit
“Fits With Hub Rings” confirms only that a center-bore difference may be addressed with the correct rings. It does not prove complete vehicle compatibility. Brake, suspension, fender, tire, offset, and hardware checks are still necessary.
Choosing a ring by approximate size
