Product Click: Definition and Meaning in Wheel-Fitment Analytics

A Product Click is an analytics event recorded when a user follows a tracked product link to an external commerce page. On WheelInterchange.com, it can show interest in a wheel, tire, spacer, adapter, or other fitment-related product without proving compatibility or purchase.

What Is a Product Click?

A Product Click is an outbound commerce event recorded when a user clicks a tracked product link. The link may lead from WheelInterchange.com to a retailer, manufacturer, marketplace, or other external product page.

In wheel-fitment content, the product could be a wheel, tire, hub ring, spacer, bolt-pattern adapter, lug nut, or related hardware. The event indicates that the user followed the link; it does not by itself indicate that the product was purchased, installed, or confirmed to fit a vehicle.

How Product Click Tracking Works

A product link contains tracking information that allows an analytics system to distinguish a commerce click from other page interactions. When the user selects the link, the event may record details such as:

  • The product or link identifier
  • The page or fitment guide where the click occurred
  • The destination category or merchant
  • The time of the interaction
  • General session or device information, subject to the site's analytics setup and privacy controls

The user is then typically directed to an external product page. Tracking may be affected by browser privacy settings, content blockers, disabled JavaScript, network problems, or changes to the destination link.

Why Product Click Matters for WheelInterchange

Product Click data helps show which products or fitment resources users find useful. For example, repeated clicks on a hub-centric ring link may indicate that visitors are looking for a way to fit a wheel whose center bore is larger than the vehicle hub. Click activity can also help identify which wheel dimensions, adapters, or hardware references deserve clearer explanations.

This event is an engagement measurement, not a fitment result. A user may click a wheel after reading a guide, but the wheel still needs to be checked against the target vehicle's bolt pattern / PCD, center bore, diameter, width, offset, brake clearance, suspension clearance, tire package, and required hardware.

Product Click vs. Fitment Confirmation

A Product Click should not be interpreted as any of the following:

  • Direct Fit confirmation
  • Proof that the product matches the target vehicle
  • Proof that an adapter, spacer, or hub ring is sufficient
  • Proof that the product was added to a cart or purchased
  • Proof that the user installed the product successfully

For example, a visitor may click a wheel listed near a fitment explanation, but the wheel could still require hub rings, a spacer, different lug hardware, or additional clearance checks. A normal wheel spacer moves the wheel outward but does not change its bolt pattern. A bolt-pattern adapter may be required when the vehicle PCD and wheel PCD differ.

Example

A user reads a guide explaining that a wheel with a 67.1 mm center bore may use a 67.1 → 64.1 mm hub-centric ring on a vehicle with a 64.1 mm hub. The user clicks a tracked link to view a ring product. That interaction generates a Product Click event.

The event shows interest in the ring. It does not prove that the linked ring has the correct dimensions for the user's exact wheel and vehicle, nor does it prove that the user bought it. Those details must be verified separately before selecting a fitment outcome such as Fits With Hub Rings.
