What Is Required Part To?
Required Part To is a commerce or fitment-data attribute that identifies the destination dimension for a required conversion part. It is also called the to dimension.
The attribute is not usually a separate physical component. Instead, it describes one side of a part specification, such as a hub-centric ring, bolt-pattern adapter, or another wheel-fitment component. The corresponding “from” value identifies the original dimension, while the “to” value identifies the target-side dimension.
For example, a hub ring may be specified as 67.1 mm to 64.1 mm. In that description:
- From: 67.1 mm, the wheel’s center bore
- To: 64.1 mm, the vehicle hub diameter
The ring reduces the effective center-bore interface so the larger-bore wheel can locate more closely on the smaller vehicle hub.
How the To Dimension Is Used
The meaning of the to dimension depends on the type of required part:
- Hub-centric ring: The to dimension is typically the vehicle-side hub diameter in millimeters.
- Bolt-pattern adapter: The to dimension is the destination PCD or bolt pattern on the side receiving the wheel, depending on how the product is described.
- Other conversion parts: The to dimension may describe the target thread, bore, PCD, or another interface dimension.
Always identify which side is being converted before interpreting the value. Product listings can describe adapter direction from the vehicle to the wheel, or from the wheel to the vehicle. A number labeled only “to” is not enough to establish compatibility without the matching “from” value and the side definitions.
Why It Matters for Wheel Fitment
The to dimension helps determine whether the required part matches the target vehicle or wheel interface. It is especially important when the donor wheel and target vehicle do not have the same dimensional interface.
For a center-bore reduction, a wheel center bore must be larger than the vehicle hub for a normal hub ring to work. A ring can reduce a larger opening to a smaller hub size, but it cannot make a wheel with a center bore smaller than the vehicle hub physically fit.
For bolt-pattern conversions, the to dimension must be read with the adapter’s direction. A normal wheel spacer only moves the wheel outward; it does not change the bolt pattern. If the donor wheel and target vehicle have different PCD values, a bolt-pattern adapter may be required instead of a standard spacer.
Units and Format
The unit depends on the dimension being converted:
- Center bore or hub diameter: millimeters, such as 67.1 mm to 64.1 mm
- Bolt pattern / PCD: commonly expressed as lug count and diameter, such as 5x112
- Thread or hardware dimensions: expressed using the applicable thread or fastener format
The to dimension should not be confused with wheel diameter, wheel width, or offset. Those describe wheel geometry and position, while Required Part To describes the destination side of a conversion interface.
Common Fitment Mistakes
- Treating the to dimension as a complete compatibility result without checking the from dimension.
- Assuming that “to” always means the vehicle side; adapter catalogs may define direction differently.
- Using a hub ring to solve a wheel center bore that is smaller than the vehicle hub.
- Assuming a normal spacer changes PCD.
- Ignoring brake clearance, wheel geometry, lug hardware, adapter thickness, or safe engagement of the wheel fasteners.
A Required Part To value is therefore a specification detail, not by itself a guarantee of Direct Fit. The full donor-wheel and target-vehicle dimensions must be checked before selecting a conversion part.
